No formal meeting this month, but ring in the New Year at Kathy Carper's home - have some drinks and bites and share some gardening tips while waiting for the ground to thaw. Please bring whatever you like to drink, hard or soft---and an appetizer or dessert to share.

Kim is a master naturalist. She was associated with Brookfield Zoo for 19 years. She is currently a co-steward for DuPage County Forest Preserve District, where she is the education coordinator for the DuPage Monarch Project. Kim will discuss how science and technology look to nature to solve complex problems.

Speaker: Glenn Grosch
Glenn will help us get ready for spring gardening with a focus on specific steps for success in starting from seeds; plant selection, fertilizers, container planting mixes, and watering. He will also discuss heat and light reqwuirements as well as disease control.

Place: Byron Colby Barn - 1561 Jones Point Rd. Grayslake, Il 60030
Mark is the executive director of the Stillman Nature Center in Barrington, Il. He has an extensive background in grey owls, Peregrine Falcon Release, raptors. He has affiliations w/ National Audubon Society, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and College of Lake County, Il. Slides and special feathered friends will be featured.

Topic: "Patio Ponds" Speaker: Katie Maguire Place: Wyld Creek Water Gardens 601 South Hwy 12, Fox Lake, Il (carpooling available)
Katie is general manager of Wyld Creek Water Gardens. She is a trained horticulturist. Katie will discuss patio gardens, aquatic plants and wetland filtration. There are several water gardens on-site.
This will be the last meeting for the year--- Have a safe, bugfree and weedless summer !
