Glen Grosch, an experienced horticulturalist and lecturer, has been on the teaching staff of the Chicago Botanic Garden since 1997. He spoke to us about growing small fruits in our climate...mainly strawberries, blueberries and grapes. He emphasized the importance of proper site selection, considering the past use of the site, and good soil drainage in preventing certain molds and fungi. He recommended the book "Small Fruits in the Home Garden" written by the University of Illinois, which can be purchased on their website.
