Community Spring Plant Sale
We have our Annual Plant Sale and Garden Items Table in May. The location is downtown Grayslake next to the Village Hall and diagonal to the feed store and west of the train tracks. Homegrown perennials, annuals, herbs and other plants (including several species of heirloom tomatoes started from seeds) are donated by members. The plant sale is an important fund raiser for the club, and allows us to fund various local philanthropic projects.
Our Horticulture Committee works with the Library Lane senior residents to plant their flower containers and in-ground beds around the building. The residents help with the dead-heading and watering during the summer season. There is also Wednesday morning Garden Therapy. Our members bring various craft projects for the residents. It is a fun activity for everyone involved. Elizabeth Campobasso is the coordinator for
Dance Recital Fund Raiser
Every year the club prepares bouquets for the Grayslake Park District's annual dance recital, which is held at the Grayslake High School in May . As a convenience for parents, and a fundraiser for the club, club members assemble and distribute bouquets of pre-ordered flowers for the parents to present to the children in the recital. Julie Prentiss coordinates this project. Funds raised from this event go toward the club's community projects and club expenses.
*Our club donated $150.00 to the Grayslake Park Foundation for the Arbor Day donation this year, 2017. The Foundation plants trees in Central Park in Grayslake.
